Asaf Aharonson

 Taking Lightness Seriously  

Over the past years, Asaf has been busy researching the conditions and the state of concentration that we need in order to enter moods of creativity. They want to develop methods of mental and physical detouring - that is, how to start a work and how to develop pieces in a roundabout way.  In doing so, They give meaning to coincidental yet curated ideas and moments, and let them land coherently.

Detours are actions or phenomena that free our thinking from logic and comprehensibility. By putting oneself in a state of standing "next to something," rather than dealing directly with it, a flow of ideas and images that does not come from a logical conclusion is unleashed, reflecting a scattered and branching logic. This curve of attention creates an unsettling of the mind and body. Asaf is inspired to work with this unsettled state, and it is simultaneously what Their work aspires to be.

Asaf Aharonson was born outside Jerusalem. A graduate of the BA Dance and Choreography of the H.Z.T , Berlin. Aharonson is a Choreographer , performer , dancer and Interdisciplinary artist. Aharonson has collaborated and performed with Ruairi Donovan, Peter Player, Mia Habib, Hana Erdman, Iris Erez, Tami Lebovits . Arkadie Zidas , Cecile Bally , and the Collectives Breakfast Club and T.E.N.T . Through Their practice They aim to prioritise the spending of time with others as the primary site for generation of material for live performance.
